What is Risperdal?

Risperdal, or risperidone, is mainly prescribed to treat schizophrenia in adults and adolescents ages 13 to 17 years old. A case study published in 2004 in the journal Psychiatry found a “clinically significant relationship” between risperidone and a condition called hyperprolactinemia.

Hyperprolactinemia involves elevated levels of the hormone prolactin.
