A new Yaz side effects lawsuit filed by two California women alleges that fourth-generation birth control products, such as Yaz, Yasmin, Ocella and Beyaz, can cause injuries that include Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), which can lead to other serious injuries as well. Like thousands of other women who use these drugs, both of these plaintiffs suffered DVT and now worry about how it will affect them in the future.
They Should Have Warned Us!
That’s what the plaintiffs in the latest Yaz birth control lawsuit allege. According to Injury Lawyer News, both women were prescribed one of the birth control pills containing the new progestin called drospirenone.
Neither of them was warned that these fourth-generation forms of birth control could cause Yaz side effects such as:
- Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
- Pulmonary embolisms
- Heart attacks
- Strokes
Both plaintiffs suffered DVTs, which they allege may lead to other health problems for them in the future, such as a blood clot coming loose from where it originated (usually in the legs), moving to the lungs, blocking blood flow and causing a pulmonary embolism.
Their Yaz injury lawsuit accuses Bayer Pharmaceuticals, the McKesson Corporation (a distributor) and Berlex Laboratories (a Bayer subsidiary) of developing, manufacturing and deceptively marketing a dangerous product, as well as actively concealing the increased risks of suffering serious side effects.
Bayer Has Already Paid $1 Billion To Victims
Bayer has already paid over one billion dollars to settle Yaz injury lawsuits and will likely pay a lot more than that in the coming years as it faces approximately 12,500 similar lawsuits. In fact, the Germany-based pharmaceutical giant recently announced that it has set aside an additional $1.5 billion to do just that.
